
Top award for Northern Irish seafood business
Still Waters has been named as Northern Ireland's 'Best Seafood Supplier' in the region's second annual food awards.
The company, a leading seafood supplier to restaurants particularly in Northern Ireland, is based at Portavogie in county Down.
Paul Carson, managing director of the family business, says: "We were absolutely delighted to become winners at this event which included passionate and creative suppliers from all over Northern Ireland. Over the past year we have made significant changes to our business to ensure it remains at the forefront of the industry.
"Our new brand and strong profile reflects our fishing family heritage stretching back 75 years in Portavogie. We are consistently dedicated to supplying fresh local produce to our customers straight from our shores, and I am delighted with this recognition, a great tribute to the hard-working staff at Still Waters and the resilient fishermen who, day after day, fish our seas."
This year marks 75 years of family fishing heritage at Still Waters with a trademark that proudly reads 'Fresh Fish is our Heritage'. The Still Waters fishing trawler was built by Pauls Grandfather in 1942.
Still Waters process the renowned Portavogie prawns and county Down scallops and distribute to restaurants throughout Northern Ireland as well as to export markets.
The annual Food Awards ceremony was held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast and represented the very best of the Northern Irish food industry.
Voted by the public, The Food Awards are designed to recognize the efforts of the best restaurants, takeaways, gastro pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as shine the spotlight on the wonderful local producers who provide their fresh local ingredients.
The award was presented by BBC NI broadcaster Kim Lenaghan.
