
Double for Northern Ireland's Bushmills in top whisky review
Old Bushmills Irish Whiskey in Northern Ireland has two products listed in the prestigious Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018.
Murray's Whisky Bible is the world's leading whisky guide. Each edition contains over 4,600 detailed, professionally analysed and easy to understand tasting notes on the world's leading and lesser known whiskies.
Based in county Antrim, Bushmills is the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery and has a wide range of single malts and blends distilled on-site in the county Antrim village.
The two products listed in the Whisky Bible, which reviews and recognises the world's best whisky, are Irish Single Malt of the Year - Bushmills 16-Year-Old - and Irish Blend of the Year - Black Bush.
The recommended spirits are among a portfolio of products distilled exclusively in Northern Ireland by the legendary Irish whiskey business which is now owned by Mexico tequila producer Jose Cuervo and distributed worldwide by Proximo.
Best Irish Single Cask was awarded to Dunville VR 15-Year-Old, which is casked by Echlinville Distillery at Kircubbin in county Down. Echlinville, among a new generation of Northern Irish distilleries, has also developed gin. It distilled its first whiskey over a year ago.
Whiskey has been laid down by two other Northern Irish distilleries - The Quiet Man Distillery in Derry and Rademon Estate in Crossgar, county Down.
The three Northern Irish whiskey products were among over 1,200 new whiskies tasted for the latest edition of the international guide,
Second Finest Whisky of the Year went to another Irish whiskey - Redbreast Aged 21 Years, the best result for an Irish entrant in Whisky Bible's history and only the second time the Ireland has made the top three. Redbreast is produced by Jameson at the Middleton Distillery in Cork.
Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018 is the 15th edition of the publication and contains taste notes for over 4,600 drams.
