Northern Irish successes in Quality Food Awards 2017

Four Northern Ireland products have been named category winners in the prestigious UK Quality Food Awards 2017. They were among a total of 11 foods from Northern Ireland listed in the annual awards, the most important in UK food retailing.

Presented by Rachel Allen and Theo Randall, the awards are considered to be the 'Oscars' of the food and drink retailing world and have a far-reaching influence on decisions of retailers across the UK.

The winning products from Northern Ireland were:

UMI Foods, Armagh City, county Armagh for its Best Spanish Chorizo & Oak Smoked Cheddar Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms (Vegetables/Fresh Produce) produced for Morrisons. The company was also highly commended for its Margarita Pizza Pepper for Asda.

Dunbia, Dungannon, county Tyrone (Meat Products) for Extra Special Lamb Chump Joint with Sea Salt, Black Pepper & Garlic Sprinkle for Asda. Dunbia was highly commended for Pork Medallions with Smoked Bacon and Herb Butter for Asda;

Dunbia gained a Q Award in the Christmas section for Extra Special Triple Crown Turkey with Cranberry and Clementine Stuffing for Asda and was shortlisted for Asda Extra Special Jewelled Whole Leg with Festive Fruit Stuffing;

Hughes Mushrooms, Dungannon, county Tyrone for Filled Peppers with Sundried Tomato, Quinoa & Couscous in Side Dishes - Vegetables

The other Northern Ireland winners in the awards were:

Irwin's Bakery, Craigavon, county Armagh highly commended for Extra Special Cheese Muffins for Asda in Bakery - Morning Goods

Moy Park, Craigavon, county Armagh highly commended for Hot and Spicy Mini Fillets for Co-op. Moy Park was also shortlished for Skinless and Boneless Stuffed British Chicken Drum Fillets for Morrisons; and

Tayto, Tandragee, county Armagh was highly commended in Side Dishes - Vegetable for Handcooked Crisps Pork and Stilton for Asda.
