Original Christmas flavours from Morelli in Northern Ireland

Morelli, Northern Ireland's specialist in Italian-style ice cream, has come up with two original flavours for the Christmas season. The new flavours for the festive season are 'Snowball' that's created from coconut, chocolate and mallows and 'Chocolate Orange'.

Based at Coleraine in county Derry, Morelli has been making ice cream for over a century and has won a series of major awards over the past decade.

Morelli has business with Tesco in both Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland.

As well as UK Great Taste Awards, the family-owned and managed business won a gold award for its ice cream at the recent Blas na hEireann, Irish National Awards at the annual food festival in Dingle, county Kerry.

The gold at Blas was for its unique Strawberry frozen Greek-style yogurt produced with Northern Ireland's Clandeboye Estate Bangor of Bangor in county Down.

Director Arnaldo Morelli says: "We've been working on the two new flavours for Christmas for some time. We believe we've created another delicious flavours that lovers of ice cream will enjoy."

In addition to Great Taste and Blas awards, Morelli's vanilla ice cream has voted 'Champion of Champions' in competitions run by the Ice Cream Alliance, the trade body for the UK's £1 billion ice cream industry.

The business has been making ice cream since 1911 and produces more than 50 different flavours of ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurt at its Coleraine factory. As a result, the Morelli family has become synonymous with high quality soft ice cream.
