Luxury gift pack from Northern Irish artisan biscuit maker

Artisan food producer Iconic Biscuits in Northern Ireland has launched a new luxury gift pack of Honey and Whiskey Hexagons aimed at international markets.

The new pack features six handcrafted shortbread biscuits using a unique recipe developed by Michael Thompson, the founder and managing director of Iconic Biscuits in 2017. Iconic Biscuits is based in Lisburn, county Antrim.

What sets the new Honey and Whiskey Hexagon biscuits apart is the use of other premium artisan products from Northern Ireland as ingredients. The new biscuits, in particular, feature the multi-award winning Abernethy Butter, which is handmade in Dromara, county Down, as well as Irish whiskey from county Antrim and honey from beekeepers in county Down.

The biscuits are hexagon shaped to reflect the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland's iconic tourist attraction in county Antrim, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site on the island of Ireland.

Michael Thompson, commenting on the new product, says: "The new gift pack follows the launch last year of shortbread biscuits for retail and foodservice. I introduced the biscuits especially for use in hotels for tourists to purchase to enjoy a taste of Northern Ireland.

"What's different about the new luxury packs is the use of Abernethy Butter from grass-fed cows among the other premium local ingredients. Abernethy, among Northern Ireland's best-known quality products, gives the biscuits a rich flavour.

"Every packet is handmade to order and is designed as something special from Northern Ireland," he adds.

Mr Thompson is a successful marketer of products including those aimed at the growing global market for gluten-free foods. He is commercial director of Gluten-Free Ireland, an organisation that promotes free-from foods in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

He launched the original hexagon-shaped honey and whiskey biscuit as a distinctive Northern Irish branded biscuit for hotels in particular.

The new biscuits are produced in a special box that's hand wrapped and are available for worldwide shipping free of charge. The company has also achieved World Host accreditation for excellent customer service.
