Northern Ireland companies shortlisted in FreeFrom Awards

Nine products from three Northern Ireland companies have been shortlisted in the prestigious UK FreeFrom Awards. The FreeFrom Foods category has been growing steadily in Northern Ireland and upwards of 20 food producers now feature products that are free from gluten, wheat and dairy.

The shortlisted companies are:

Bfree, which has a production plant in Crossmaglen, county Armagh in the Innovation category for its Baked at Home Triple Seeded Baguette; in the Breakfast category for an Oaty Loaf; in Store Cupboard for Stone Baked Pizza Base; and Foods for Children for Pitta Pockets.

Cocomojo, based in Lisburn, county Antrim in Superfoods and Sports Supplement for its Chocolate Flavoured Coconut Milk with added Protein; and in Food for Children for its Strawberry Flavoured Coconut Milk Drink with added Protein.

Rule of Crumb in Antrim, county Antrim in Meaty and Fishy Ready Meals for Chicken Kiev with a gluten free and lactose free base in Foods for Children for gluten and dairy free Chocolate Eclairs, and Desserts and Puddings for Chocolate Eclairs.

The awards, founded and run by Freefromfoods matter, the web's most comprehensive resource for free-from food, celebrate the innovation and imagination shown by the food industry in creating foods that are free of wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soya, sulphites and other allergens.

Over the last 10 years the awards have become one of the most important fixtures in the freefrom year.

And over those years the bright yellow awards logo has become recognised as the mark of quality for freefrom foods, widely displayed on winning, commended and shortlisted products on sale everywhere from supermarket shelves to on-line specialist suppliers.
