Northern Irish blockchain specialist listed in international awards

Northern Irish specialist in blockchain technology for agri-food and other industries, arc-net has been shortlisted for two major awards.

The company, which is based in Belfast and also has offices in Scotland and the US, has attracted expert judges in this year's Digital Agenda Impact Awards and the AgFunder Awards for Most Innovative International Startup business.

Established in 2016, arc-net is assisting food companies in the UK and Ireland to investment in transparency in their operations and supply chains.

The small companies, founded by data technology specialist Kieran Kelly, managing director, contributed to the development of the first craft beer, Downstream in Northern Ireland, based on blockchain technology that enables consumers to track the development of the beer from 'field to glass' on a mobile phone.

Mr Kelly, commenting on the double shortlisting, says: "We are delighted by the international recognition from both these important awards. It will help to showcase our expertise and blockchain technology in international markets."

The Digital Agenda Impact Awards celebrate digital innovations that improve people's lives and the world around. They are open to any business, government or non-profit using digital products or services for positive social or environmental impact.

The AgFunder Awards are organised by AgFunder News, an industry news site, which is based in the US, at the intersection of food and agriculture, technology and investment.

The site publishes daily, original news on the food and agriculture technology industry, including the latest funding news and analysis of trends in the sector. A hub of information for the growing startup and investment community in agrifood tech, the site also features guest commentaries and Q&A's with industry experts.
