Irish Black Butter listed by Sheridan's Cheesemongers

Irish Black Butter from Northern Ireland has been listed by Sheridans, the leading Irish cheesemongers.

The listing strengthens the market position of Irish Black Butter, a sweet/savoury spread developed by entrepreneur Alastair Bell, who is based at Portrush in county Antrim, and launched in November.

The spread features ingredients such as Armagh bramley apples, treacle, brandy and spices and has been created with the advice and guidance of top chef Paul Clarke, managing director of multi-award winning En Place Foods, also based in Northern Ireland.

Mr Bell, commenting on the agreement with Sheridans, says: "This is very exciting business for us with one of the most respected cheesemongers in Ireland and further afield. It strengthens our position, especially in the Irish market, and our overall reputation and a producer of a quality and outstandingly tasty product. It's a real taste of Ireland and a great accompaniment for the quality and variety of cheese now to be found on the island of Ireland," he adds.

Irish Black Butter has been establishing a network of specialist distributors in the UK and Ireland for its retail and foodservice packs of the unique spread.

Sheridans Cheesemongers, run by its' owners Kevin Sheridan, Seamus Sheridan and Fiona Corbett, was founded in 1995, when they started selling Irish farmhouse cheeses at the Galway market. Shortly after they opened a shop in Galway with Irish farmhouse cheeses. They then moved into Dublin.

Since their first foray into the world of cheese from a small market stall, the business expanded to include a total of four establishments, with purpose-built premises, offices and maturing rooms in County Meath.

The company specialises on sourcing highest quality artisan products and forging links directly with the food producers, especially handmade Irish cheeses.

The portfolio includes a crackers and condiments for cheese.

Sheridans now has shops in Dublin and Galway City Centre, at Ardkeen in Waterford and market stalls in the greater Dublin area and Galway as well as our warehouse shop in Meath. It also exports cheese to Irish Europe.
