Major innovation award for Cavanagh Free Range Eggs

Cavanagh Free Range Eggs in Northern Ireland has won a major manufacturing award. The company, based on a family farm at Cavanagh in county Fermanagh, is run by husband and wife team John and Eileen Hall.

It won the food and drink award in the annual Made in Northern Ireland awards run by Insider Magazine.

Cavanagh has won a string of national awards for its free range eggs from its 60,000-strong flocks and has won the Chef's Larder Preference at Blas na hEireann, Irish National Awards in the past two years.

Eileen Hall, commenting on the Insider Business Award, says: "We are delighted to have won this important recognition and look forward to representing Northern Ireland in the national competition later in the year.

"Success at such awards is a great way of raising our profile especially in our target markets both here and abroad. We are particularly keen to grow business for our award winning eggs in Britain," she adds.

The Export Award was won by LacPatrick, a dairy producer operating at Coleraine in county Derry and Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland.

A diverse array of manufacturers were honoured at Insider's Made in Northern Ireland Awards, which rewarded the most ambitious and innovative companies in the sector.
