Dunbia named Processor of the Year


Northern Ireland company Dunbia, one of the industry's leading meat suppliers was named 'Processor of the Year' at the prestigious Meat and Poultry Processing Awards held recently in Birmingham.



The awards are organised by the Meat Trades Journal and are unique in the industry in that they recognise and reward processors. Dunbia received the top accolade for continued investment and focus in its people, the environment, its communities, innovation and the wider supply chain. Not forgetting the top quality products and service levels the company provides to customers with the judges stating: "Dunbia had a strong sense of identity with unwavering focus on superb service for its customers."



Speaking after the awards Jim Dobson, Group Managing Director for Dunbia, said: "we are delighted and honoured to win this award and be named Processor of the Year. It recognises that we are committed to producing top quality products for our customers, but also that we operate with our people, primary producers, communities and the environment front of mind." He continued: "Our focus on innovation is key to business development, and, we place such importance not only in new product development but also in new process innovation to remain competitive in today's marketplace."



The judges clearly saw the commitment that Dunbia has to securing a sustainable red meat supply chain for the future through the development of its Supplier Group launched last autumn, as well as the investment in resources to ensure it produces products that meet customers' needs. On top of that Dunbia has raised in the region of £28,000 for charitable causes in the past twelve months, saved 1500 tonnes of carbon through waste reduction initiatives, and trained over 400 operatives in the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Programmes Levels 2 and 3.
