Handcrafted American Cookies exported from Northern Ireland

Consumers in the Republic of Ireland are developing a taste for the award winning cookies from Big Ted's American Cookies. The company, based in Northern Ireland, has recently won business for its full range of distinctively American, handcrafted cookies and is now supplying specialty food stores and coffee shops in the Dublin area.

A Great Taste Award winner in 2010, Big Ted's Cookies are now on sale in a range of outlets including cafes such as O'Brien's and Bon Espresso, as well as, Fallon and Byrne Food Hall in Dublin and Dundrum-based Fleming's Fine Foods.

The deals are the first secured by Big Ted's outside Northern Ireland where the company already supplies around 100 outlets. Business has doubled over the past year.

The Company was formed in 2006 by Ted Jensen, a native of California, who originally came to Northern Ireland to work in senior management for a US owned engineering business.

He subsequently saw a gap in the market from the developing café culture trend and decided to launch the cookies at local Farmers' Markets. The cookies gained a very positive response from shoppers keen to sample something different and café owners wanting to sell the product on.

"I soon realised that the cookies available just weren't the same as my granny taught me to make - chewy on the inside and slightly crunchy on the edges so I decided to introduce great American cookies to the Northern Ireland market and it's proving a wonderfully successful venture!

"Winning business in the Republic is a huge boost for the company," he says. "It's a key element in our growth strategy to develop business throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom. The cookies sell themselves - it's all in the taste."

Each preservative free cookie is handcrafted and baked with fresh, quality ingredients like local butter, eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla, dark and white Belgian chocolate, M&Ms and roasted peanuts.

The current range includes the Classic American, M&M, Triple Chocolate Chip, Blondie White Chocolate and other favourites such as the Snickerdoodle, Raspberry Razzler, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, the Monster and our seasonal favourites.
