Award winning corned beef at top London hotel

McCartney's, the Northern Ireland butchery business that won the Supreme Champion title in last year's UK Great Taste Awards for its unique corned beef, is supplying a prestigious new restaurant at The Cadogan Hotel in Sloane Street, London.

The company, based at Moira in County Down, is providing its handmade corned beef to the hotel for its recently launched Great Taste at The Cadogan menu. The corned beef, created using the best silverside beef, features on the menu's British Cold Beef Platter.

New seasonal menus are being created at the top London restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Oliver Lesnik, and in collaboration with Great Taste chair and BBC Radio 2's Nigel Barden, along with influential guest curators including British food writers and gourmands Fay Maschler (London Evening Standard), Xanthe Clay (Daily Telegraph), Lucas Hollweg (The Sunday Times), and Bill Knott (Financial Times).

The hotel's 'Great Taste at The Cadogan' restaurant, described by management as "a revolutionary restaurant concept, showcases award-winning food from passionate artisan producers across the United Kingdom, as judged in the Great Taste Awards".

Guests are now able to enjoy "exquisite food and service in the sublime surroundings of the high-ceilinged dining room that exudes elegance and sophistication".

George McCartney, managing director of McCartney's, says: We are delighted that our corned beef is now on the menu at The Cadogan Hotel as part of their Great Taste Menu. It's a tremendous honour which introduces our award-winning product to diners in one of London's most prestigious hotels. The contract is the latest in a series that we've secured from customers in key international markets."

McCartney's corned beef is also supplied to top London stores including Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason. The product was the first from Northern Ireland to achieve the supreme champion title in the UK Great Taste Awards that were announced last July by the influential UK Guild of Fine Foods.

McCartney's is a family owned and run business which has been operating in Moira for over 140 years.

As well as a UK Great Taste champion for corned beef, McCartney's is renowned for its huge range of pork sausages. It has won the UK Champion of Champion Sausage Makers Competition three times and is the current champion.

It recently sent half a tonne of sausages and black pudding to Fortnum & Mason for a month of Irish breakfasts.
