Bite Group in Major Foodservice Win in Republic
Bite Group, the Northern Irish convenience food company, has won new foodservice business in the Republic of Ireland that will provide 23 new jobs.
The latest business, worth around £3 million from a foodservice industry leader, has led to Bite Group extending production and distribution of premium quality convenience foods to an extensive network of cafes, restaurants and corporate canteens in the Republic.
Bite Group, based at Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, specialises in food solutions, and the new business will also see it expand its production and distribution in Northern Ireland.
The company supplies a comprehensive portfolio of food products, including fresh sandwiches, tortilla wraps, baguettes and deli ingredients, on a daily basis by its own temperature controlled vans from a network of depots in Belfast, Dublin, Cork and Galway. Current customers include Starbucks, Dunnes, Musgrave and SuperValu.
Michael Keogh, Bite Group managing director, commenting on the new contracts, said:
"The latest business is a tremendous and very significant boost for the company and positions us for further and faster growth in the Republic, our most important and rapidly developing market.
"The contract recognises Bite Group as the largest and most successful manufacturer and distributor of private label snack and convenience products on the island of Ireland.
"It's an important acknowledgement that Bite Group now offers a total food solution to its existing and potential clients throughout the island of Ireland that's based on an ability to create, package and distribute premium food wherever and whenever required.
"Bite Group is able to provide this superb service because of its extensive investment in its processing, marketing and distribution operations.
"In addition, Bite Group's success will benefit many suppliers of ingredients in the Republic including bread, potatoes and fillings."
Formed in 1998 by Mr Keogh, Bite Group now operates from a British Retail Consortium Grade A accredited production plant on Lackaboy Industrial Estate, Enniskillen.
