Pearls set to shine at London food show

Fivemiletown Creamery, Northern Ireland's leading producer of speciality cheese, is launching its new range of innovative Boilíe cheese pearls in Britain at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London on 2 September.

The unique Irish cheese pearls are hand rolled from cream cheese or goat's and cow's cheese and then marinated in oil. The flavours include original garlic and herb infused oil, and two new varieties - Boilíe filled with tomato and herbs or with a delicious basil pesto, which are ideal for salads and snacks.

Peter Dunlop, Fivemiletown Creamery's marketing manager, says: "Our Boilíe cheese pearls are delicious and unique products, reflecting the high quality of cow's and goat's cheese for which Fivemiletown Creamery has long been known.

"We want to offer our customers something different and we believe that our new Boilíe products are unique and will give our customers a variety of tastes and a different experience from anything they have had before."

Boilíe is aimed at speciality independents and quality retailers. The creamery has already experienced great success with the innovative products, as they were finalists in the International Dairy Federation in Norway earlier this year and were successful in the recent Nantwich International Cheese Festival.

The packaging for the new Boilíe products offers recipe ideas to the customer to allow them to get the most from the product. Recipes ideas include a delicious starter such as filo tarts filled with Boilíe, sun dried tomatoes, basil and chutney and great main dishes like the gently spiced Moroccan chicken with Boilíe and mango salsa.

Fivemiletown Creamery hopes that the launch of the new Boilíe products will help increase its record-breaking sales even further. The company recently announced sales of £24.5 million from 2010 to 2011, which are the best sales in history.

The launch of the new Boilíe cheese pearls comes after the brand-experienced strong demand for soft speciality cheeses.

The creamery, based in the lush pastures of county Tyrone, has been selling dairy products including butter in Britain since 1900 and is now internationally recognised as an award-winning producer. It exports cheese worldwide to markets such as the US, China, Scandinavia, France and the Netherlands. It sources high protein milk from around 70 local farmers and employs 90 people.

Fivemiletown Creamery has gained a series of international awards for quality cheese and prestigious UK Great Taste Awards. Fivemiletown attributes this success to the quality and purity of the local milk from its farmers, and the skill and knowledge of its artisan cheesemakers.
