Northern Irish Elmgrove Foods in line for top European award
Elmgrove Foods, the Northern Irish meat processor, is in the running for a top European award for its achievements in export markets. The company, based at Dungannon in County Tyrone, is listed in the import/export category to represent the UK in the prestigious European Business Awards (EBAs).
The company, which employs seven people, exports meat products worldwide, including the Middle East and Europe, and has an 80-strong product portfolio within the beef, lamb and pork sectors.
Managing Director Stuart Dobson says: "It's a tremendous honour for the company to reach the final stages of the highly influential European Business Awards and to be selected as the UK representative."
In March 2010, Elmgrove Foods was awarded the 'Export Initiative of the Year Award' at the Meat and Poultry Processing Awards held in Birmingham.
EBAs is dedicated to raising the visibility and progress of companies which excel in delivering innovation and achieving successful commercial results whilst acting responsibly and positively contributing to the social environment they operate in.
The primary purpose is to support the development of a stronger and more successful business community throughout Europe.
The awards' aims are:
to draw attention to and recognise the best businesses and what they are doing;
to enable companies of all sizes and industries to compare themselves to and learn from the very best in Europe; and
to stimulate the debate about the future shape, form and substance of the business community in Europe.
In 2011, the EBAs engaged with over 15,000 organisations in over 30 countries showcasing the best in class, the winners from a diverse range of industries including cosmetics, engineering, fashion, online businesses, manufacturing and transport were congratulated by an audience comprising heads of state, leading industrialists, entrepreneurs, business leaders, media owners and academics from across 30 European nations.
The final stages begin next month and the winner announced early in 2013.
