Crossgar Poultry invests to grow in Ireland

Crossgar Poultry, the leading Northern Irish processor, has rebranded its range chicken range and gained Bord Bia accreditation to grow sales throughout Ireland.

The company, part of Crossgar Foodservice, which is based at Seaforde in Co Down and is now owned by Sysco Corp., has launched a fresh corporate identity and new packaging of its extensive range of fresh poultry products.

As part of the marketing drive in the Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland, Crossgar Poultry has gained the important Bord Bia Northern Irish Origin accreditation. The poultry processed by the company at its plant in Crossgar, Co Down, is all sourced in Northern Ireland and will be distributed throughout The Republic of Ireland by Pallas Foods, which is also part of the US Sysco Corp.

Michael Morrissey, Foodservice Director at Crossgar Foodservice, says:

"We believe that there are significant opportunities for our fresh poultry and other products throughout Ireland, where customers are increasingly seeking quality food that's home grown and fully traceable from established processors operating to the highest European food hygiene and safety standards.

"They can count on provenance and traceability from Crossgar Poultry. Our new branding has been developed to reflect a fresh home grown identity from a quality focused Northern Irish supplier.

"Our position within Pallas Foods, Ireland's biggest food distributor, is a further and strategically important endorsement of the quality and innovation underpinning all our products and will open additional markets to the business across Ireland.

"Achieving Bord Bia accreditation is another immensely significant development for us in the Irish market. We believe that the Crossgar Poultry guaranteed Northern Irish products can be grown substantially over the next few years in both foodservice and retail sectors."

Crossgar Poultry was established in 1959 and is now a leading poultry supplier to foodservice market in Northern Ireland. The poultry is processed at a modern plant operating to British Retail Consortium and Bord Bia accreditations.

Crossgar Foodservice was acquired by Sysco Corp through Pallas Foods last year as part of an expansion programme on the Island of Ireland.
