Belfast-based Suki Tea is celebrating the news that their hand blended 'Earl Grey Blue Flower' is one of 332 products to be shortlisted in this year's Quality Food Awards- one of the retail food and drink industries' most prestigious accolades.

Suki Tea's 'Earl Grey Blue Flower' is sold in Dobbies Food Halls across the UK, as well as at Patisserie Valerie and various independent retail stores including Belfast's 'Sawer's Deli', and Edinburgh's 'Earthy Foods and Goods'.

"This is our first year to enter the Quality Food Awards so to have been short-listed is amazing. We are absolutely thrilled." explains Oscar Woolley, co-director at Suki Tea. "The Earl Grey Blue Flowerwas our first attempt at tea blending in-house, so we are proud as punch that it is proving so popular, our own little Champion. Not only did we introduce it as one of the UK's first Triple Certified Teas in 2012 (Fairtrade, Organic and Rainforest Alliance certified) but it has also already won a number of awards including 2 stars in the Great Taste Awards 2011 and Northern Irelands People's Choice 2011.'

Annie Rooney, fellow co-director went on to say 'The awards Small Producer partnership with Harrods opens new doors for us, as should we go on to win we will have the opportunity to work with the Harrods team and have the Earl Grey Blue Flower listed within the prestigious Food Halls.'

Chosen by a judging panel comprised of industry experts and influencers, the Quality Food and Drink Awards is renowned for celebrating the success of food and drink products that are on sale in grocery outlets throughout the UK. Now in its 34th year, the Awards night itself promises to bring the best of the UK's food and drink produce and key industry influencers together in the spectacular setting of the Great Room at the renowned Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane London.

Belfast's Boutique Blender, Suki Tea, was first set up in 2005 by business partners Annie and Oscar in their quest for the perfect cuppa. After both having spent time separately travelling Asia they returned to Northern Ireland inspired with a vision to provide ethically sourced high quality loose leaf tea delivered with a ceremonial experience, 'Tea as it Should Be'.
