FIVEMILETOWN WINS BUSINESS FROM SAINSBURY

Northern Ireland based gourmet cheese maker, Fivemiletown Creamery, is supplying its richly flavoured Ballyoak Smoked Brie to Sainsbury for the retailers popular ???Taste the Difference' range. The contract follows the success of a Christmas promotion of another soft cheese product, An Brie Beag, a 500g whole wheel of Irish Brie, that the speciality cheese maker developed for Sainsbury and was sold in stores throughout the United Kingdom. Sainsbury's is now selling the Ballyoak Smoked Brie in 142g wedges in 250 stores throughout the United Kingdom and is already talking to Fivemiletown Creamery, Northern Ireland's multi-award winning speciality cheese maker, about listing its unique ???Boilie' marinated goats' cheese jars in its supermarkets. ???Winning business with Sainsbury's for two of our gourmet cheeses is a testament to the quality and flavour of the products,??? says Kevin McManus, Fivemiletown Creamery's sales manager. ???They have proved a real hit with consumers.' ???Another factor in Sainsbury's decision is our manufacturing flexibility which enables us to respond quickly to the specific requirements of individual customers. We were able to meet a requirement from Sainsbury's for a soft cheese to be part of their Christmas ???Great British Cheese' range. ???Over the years we've developed a reputation for delivering premium products to all our customers on time, every time, ensuring value and reliability. We were delighted then to be approached by Sainsbury's to supply our successful Ballyoak Smoked Brie wedges and the interest now being shown in our distinctively flavoured ???Boilie' product. ???The contracts are an important breakthrough for us with one of the UK's most important and quality conscious retailers,??? he adds. Sainsbury's has now joined a growing portfolio of prestigious customers secured by Fivemiletown Creamery. Other recent successes include a deal to supply gourmet cheese to Sam's Club in the United States, part of Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer. The company also supplies Brie to Galeries LaFayette stores throughout France. Since it was established in 1898, Fivemiletown Creamery has a well-founded reputation for age-old tradition and quality and sources its milk from farms close to its County Tyrone processing plant. The dairy has the facility to produce many varieties of select quality cheeses but has maintained the traditional methods of manufacture.
