Shortcross Gin Spirit of the Month at Fortnum & Mason

Shortcross Gin, the recently launched Northern Irish small batch gin, has been named 'Spirit of the Month' at the prestigious Fortnum and Mason store in central London.

Fortnum and Mason has become the first London stockist of the gin produced by Rademon Estate Craft Distillery in Crossgar, county Down

As part of the launch, Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong, founders of the Rademon Craft Distillery, will be undertaking a series of tastings throughout the month of August on the 8th & 9th, 22nd & 23rd.

David Boyd-Armstrong, managing director of the small distillery, says: "The business from Fortnum and Mason is a very exciting boost for the business and an immense endorsement of the quality and originality of our gin. It gives us a tremendous springboard for further business in what will be an extremely important marketplace for us."

The business follows an introduction to the gin during a visit to Northern Ireland by buyers from Fortnum and Mason in June.

Shortcross Gin recently gained a silver award in the International Wine and Spirits Competition. The gin is described by Rademon Craft Distillery as "an aromatic and exceptionally long, smooth gin that redefines what an Irish gin should be".

The gin is based on fresh apples, elderberries and wild clover distilled with other botanicals including juniper, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel and cassia. Most of the botanicals are grown on the Rademon Estate. Fresh water from the estate is also used. In the distilling

Mr Boyd-Armstrong, says: "The combination of botanicals creates a unique and uplifting aroma reminiscent of a summer meadow, and gives Shortcross Gin a classic yet contemporary flavour with an exceptionally smooth and long peppery finish.

"We are passionate about handcrafting and creating only the finest, artisan premium spirits products. In creating Shortcross Gin, we have taken the time and passion to ensure that every aspect of the gin is perfected by hand.

"From handpicking and sourcing the finest botanicals, drawing our own fresh water, distilling in a bespoke copper still, to bottling and labelling, every element of Shortcross Gin is created by hand to meet our exacting standards for exceptional quality," he adds

The distillery was founded in 2012

Shortcross Gin is currently being distributed in Northern Ireland and is now available in leading bars and restaurants. The company is implementing plans to sell the gin outside Northern Ireland especially in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Shortcross Gin is driven by a small batch philosophy. It uses the finest handpicked botanicals, fresh water drawn from the estate itself and distilled in a bespoke copper still. Bottling and labelling are carried out by hand.
