Hat trick for Hannan Meats in Great Taste Top 50
Hannan Meats, the Northern Irish catering butchery business, has achieved a third product listing in the UK Guild of Fine Food's Top 50 Foods.
The company, based at Moira in county Down, has been listed for its unique
Himalayan Salt Aged Tagliata in the Top 50 ranking of Britain and Ireland's tastiest foods.
The panel of expert judges said: "Dry-aged for a whopping 40 days, this tagliata is a handsome piece of meat that packs huge depth of flavour. "
The citation continued: "The most gloriously beautiful joint of beef we have seen in a while. The fat is amazing."
Hannan Meats, an artisan business with extension production capability employs around 30 people at its plant in Moira, also the location of its award-winning Meat Merchant butchery and deli.
The company, headed by Peter Hannan, has already won Top 50 listing with two other meat products aged in the company's unique Himalayan salt chamber, the world's biggest and most sophisticated.
Hannan Meats had seven products included in the list of three-star golds produced by the Guild of Fine Food in the Great Taste Awards 2014.
The company, in business for 21 years, supplies beef and Moyallon branded bacon and other pork products including sausages to foodservice operations in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, France and Portugal. Customers include top chefs such as Mark Hix in London.
In addition, Hannan Meats supplies Himalayan Salt-Aged Beef to Fortnum and Mason department store in London. It provided salt aged beef for the GREAT Britain showcase in Istanbul organised by UKTI to promote the best UK products and services. The beef has also been showcased at events hosted by the UK Government in London.
