Pots of Potential - Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt sign deal to supply coffee giant, Costa
A small County Down based food producer, Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt has recently secured an order with coffee giant, Costa, to supply their artisan Greek style yoghurt to their Northern and Southern Ireland store in a deal worth an estimated £100,000 annually.
Costa has a network of 87 stores across Ireland and will be launching the Clandeboye Estate Greek yoghurt as part of a new nutritious tasty breakfast menu featuring mix and match yoghurt pots, crunchy granola and berry compotes.
The Clandeboye Estate yoghurt range is the only yoghurt made in Northern Ireland and is the brainchild of the Estate's owner Lady Dufferin, the Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava. Lady Dufferin recognised a gap in the market for premium artisan yoghurt made from the milk from her prize-winning and much loved pedigree herd of Holstein and Jersey cows.
The yoghurts are made in the traditional way, which guarantees a rich creamy texture. The milk is prepared and cultured very gently over 24 hours in small batches, which helps create an exceptional flavour and texture.
Speaking at the launch of the new yoghurts, Costa Coffee Ireland, Product Manager, Deirdre Sloan said,
"At Costa, we are continuously on the look-out for locally sourced produce to enhance our quality food offering. We tasted and tested lots of Greek style yoghurts and Clandeboye Estate was a clear favourite with the team. It's absolutely delicious eaten on its own or topped it with fresh berries, compotes, granola or even a drizzle of honey!"
"We are delighted that Costa Coffee has chosen Clandeboye Estate to supply their Greek style yoghurt," added Lady Dufferin. "We are particularly excited about supplying Costa's entire network of stores in both the North and Southern Ireland."
Since launching the range in 2007, the Clandeboye Estate brand has gone from strength to strength, quadrupling turnover in the last 5 years to over £600,000. The company has sold over 2.5 million pots of yoghurt made from over 1 million litres of milk from the estate's boutique herd of 90 cows. The company currently supplies the big three major multiples in N.Ireland, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda, the symbol groups through Henderson and Musgraves, the catering and hospitality trade and many independent retailers across Ireland.
