Northern Ireland’s PEPPUP Italian sauces expands free from range

Based in Newtownards, county Down, Peppup’s latest sauce is fat free, allergen free with no gluten or dairy, with no added sugar, preservative free and suitable for vegans.

“It’s a tasty dipping sauce that’s made entirely from fruits and vegetables,” says Luca Montorio, originally from Turin but now resident at Portaferry in Northern Ireland.

“The new sauce is a response to the growing market demand for clean food products with strong healthy attributes. They are 100% plant based, free from fat, free from allergens and with no onions or garlic so IBS friendly too,” he continues.

The new smoky dipping sauce is intended for sharing around the dinner table or other less formal occasions such as with freshly baked breads.

The small company already includes gluten free products among its portfolio of award-winning pasta sauces, Bolognese sauces and ketchups all made from premium ingredients of roasted peppers and tomatoes.

The company has received assistance from business development agency Invest Northern Ireland, including innovation vouchers, towards the development and marketing of its award winning sauces.

PEPPUP was formed in 2015 by Mr Montorio to create innovative table sauces for retailers in the UK and Republic of Ireland. He has received assistance from business development agency Invest Northern Ireland to create the original products, grow the business and sales.

All the products are based on original recipes developed by Luca and influenced by his upbringing in Turin. "The sauces, which have gained UK Great Taste awards and Free From Ireland Silver Awards are authentic and versatile.

“They can be used to flavour any dish or enjoyed on their own. The brand is all about flavour and fresh homemade taste with roasted peppers as the key ingredient," he says.

PEPPUP currently sells throughout the UK and Ireland to quality independent delis and farm shops.
