Authentic sauce specialist launches tasty peppers

PEPPUP, the producer of authentic and nutritious Mediterranean foods in Northern Ireland, has launched two original and delicious peppers for a range of dishes and snacks for home cooks.

The two new products are easy to eat Green Mild Baby Peppers and Yellow and Red Roasted Peppers. Both are pickled in a light wine vinegar and available in glass jars – the baby peppers in 345g and the Yellow and Red Roasted Peppers in 480g jars.

Dr Luca Montorio, the founder and managing director of PEPPUP, which is based at Newtownards in county Down, says both products are fat free with no added sugars and free from any preservatives and allergens. The products are also 100 percent plant based and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

“I’ve developed these for a wide range of uses by home cooks including salads and snacks such as sandwiches and wraps.,” he explains.

“They reflect our commitment to Nutritious and Delicious foods that are natural especially free from allergens, fat and sugar,” adds Dr Montorio, an experienced and qualified nutritionist from Ulster University December 2020.

PEPPUP was formed by Dr Montorio, originally from Turin, Italy, and wife Liz in 2014 from their base at Newtownards.

The company has achieved substantial business throughout Ireland for its extensive portfolio of original roasted pepper condiments including Bolognese and pasta sauces, ketchups and dipping sauces.

The range includes vegan, dairy free, gluten free options and without any added sugar.  Many of the foods have also won UK Great Taste and Free From Food awards Ireland.

The small company, which is innovation-led and market-driven, has seen business grow substantially with independent grocers, delis, home bakeries and family butchers.
