The Kraken knows a lot about legends of the deep so taking inspiration from its fellow sea creature and mythical legend, The Siren, known for luring sailors towards rocky shores through their hypnotic singing, The Beast has formed its own musical outfit - The Serenading Sirens. Fronted by none other than The Vaccines frontman Justin Young, the indie star performed to the delicious cocktails, infusing them with his irresistible vocals, ensuring its drinkers have a truly dark Valentine’s Day. Romantic, huh?

With an extra lashing of darkness from the bottom of the ocean, Young was ordered by The Kraken to delve deep into his black heart to deliver a dark twist on a modern-day sea shanty. Giving a one-off performance to over 100 cocktails last week, The Vaccines’ frontman marinaded them in song to create the most alluring cocktails ever made. Channelling his inner Siren, the singer performed a haunting new rendition of ‘My Jolly Sailor’, including extra soul-destroying lyrics!

A lovers’ tale at heart, ‘My Jolly Sailor’ recounts the story of a young maiden waiting for her love to return from the sea. No doubt the sailor’s dreams of living happily ever after were shattered at the hands of The Beast’s violent rage…

Ready to administer a dark twist to any looming romance on Valentine’s Day, as well as injecting an air of deep sea majesty that could break any of Cupid’s measly arrows, Justin Young channelled his inner Siren to produce powerfully piercing vocals amongst a background of strings, drums and guitars. The Lord of Darkness couldn’t have belted out the tragic shanty any better himself (though we wouldn’t tell him that!)

But that’s not all, in a grand act of magnanimity The Mighty Kraken will bottle up the serenaded cocktail, producing a gift set for 15 of his lucky social media followers in Ireland - including a limited-edition Serenading Siren vinyl, featuring a tempestuous string quartet cover of ‘My Jolly Sailor’ on the A side, and a rambunctious heavy metal-thrash version on the flip side. Other items within the Valentine’s Day packs include an exclusive black tentacle candle – providing the perfect ambience to stare deep into your beloved’s soul!

To be in with a chance to be one of the lucky 15 to receive The Kraken’s Serenading Siren Kit, would-be romantics need only to contribute their own verse to ‘My Jolly Sailor’.
