Burren Balsamics wins repeat business from Harrods

Northern Ireland’s Burren Balsamics, the award- winning producer of infused balsamic vinegars, has grown its business with Harrods in London, the world’s leading and most prestigious luxury store.

Burren Balsamics, which is based at Richhill in County Armagh, has won repeat business for the nine products ordered for the store’s food hall last year and received an added order for a further Balsamic from its exclusive Grand Reserve range.

Susie Hamilton Stubber, who founded the business in February 2014, commenting on the latest order from Harrods, says: “We were thrilled to receive the new orders just a few months after we won our first business to supply an initial nine lines to the iconic store. It’s a very exciting development which strengthens our position in Britain, now our most important market outside Northern Ireland.

“Harrods is now a very significant and influential customer for us, and our developing business with the store is a marvellous endorsement of the innovation and quality of our products especially in Britain, an intensely competitive marketplace,” she adds.

Burren Balsamics is among the most successful artisan food business from Northern Ireland in Great Britain. The small company has won a host of accolades for their original vinegars including UK Great Taste and Blas na hEireann food awards. In addition, Burren’s Irish Peat Smoked was recently awarded Best New Product at the Great British Food Awards.

Mrs Hamilton Stubber created the novel products with business partner Bob McDonald, an experienced development chef. The contracts with the Knightsbridge store’s renowned Food Halls is the result of many years of contact building and networking with high-end food stores and delis throughout Great Britain.

“We’ve invested heavily in terms of time, finance and other resources in our extensive campaign to grow our business throughout Britain,” adds Mrs Hamilton Stubber.

The award winning vinegars are blended from natural ingredients, including fruits sourced from growers in Armagh, to enable professional chefs and home cooks to add deliciously different flavours to their meals.

The natural fruits include Armagh Bramley apples, which have EU PGI protection, from orchards in the area, as well as quality fruits from local farmers such as blackcurrants, strawberries and blueberries.
