Cavanagh Eggs wins business with Dunnes Stores in Northern Ireland

Multi-award winning Cavanagh Free Range Eggs in Northern Ireland has been listed by leading Irish retailer Dunnes Stores in two outlets.

Based near Enniskillen in county Fermanagh, Cavanagh now has five lines listed in two stores in Northern Ireland – Omagh, county Tyrone and Enniskillen.

Five lines of free range are being supplied to the Dublin-based retailer by Cavanagh, a poultry farm owned by John and Eileen Hall at Newtownbutler in Fermanagh. The lines are: Big Breakfast six packs; Large six and 12 packs; Medium six and 12 packs.

Mrs Hall says the farm was approached by Dunnes, following requests by shoppers in the two Northern Ireland towns requesting Cavanagh Eggs. “Management feared they were losing out by not having our eggs on their shelves and asked if we would supply them. We were delighted to be approached and happy to supply them with a selection of free range eggs straight from our farm,” Mrs Hall explains.

The award winning poultry business also supplies Spar, Tesco and Asda in Northern Ireland with a range of eggs. “Business is also going really well at these retailers,” Mrs Hall says. “Sales at Tesco and Asda have increased during the past year,” she adds.

The family business is among the most successful egg producers in Northern Ireland and has won Irish Quality Food and Drink and UK Great Taste awards in the past few years.

Cavanagh Free-Range Eggs produces and processes upwards of 13 million eggs a year on 80 acres at Newtownbutler. The company has invested extensively in the latest grading and packing technology on the farm.

“What sets out eggs apart in is the deep yellow yolks and firm whites,” she continues. “We are a family business which means we have total control of all aspects of production. Our eggs have provenance as well as an amazing taste.”

Cavanagh Free-Range Eggs was established in 2012 and now has a 60,000-strong flock of chickens.
