
Northern Ireland’s Crust and Crumb in line for national export awards
Crust and Crumb, Northern Ireland’s largest manufacturer of ambient, chilled, and frozen commercial and gluten-free dough-based products, has been shortlisted in the finals of the Bakery Industry Awards 2021.
The company, which is based at Derrylin in county Fermanagh, includes a dedicated gluten-free bakery and free-from production line. It is listed in the finals of the Bakery Exporter of the Year category.
Crust & Crumb is shortlisted in the prestigious awards exports grew by 25 percent last year to top £40 million. When the pandemic struck, the company adopted a new production ethos: “If we can’t go to our customers, we must show them why they should come to us.”
The growth in total export revenues and the number of customers, that resulted from this strategy, really impressed the judges in the influential Bakery Industry Awards run by key trade magazine British Baker.
Crust and Crumb is Ireland’s largest manufacturer of ambient, chilled and frozen commercial and gluten free dough-based products. The business, which has an operation in Cavan in the Irish Republic, specialises in producing own-label pizza bases, topped pizza, flatbreads and tortillas.
It creates fresh prepared foods in partnership with our leading retail and food service customers in Ireland/UK and around the world.
The Baking Industry Awards recognise and celebrate the transformation of the industry through the last year. It is the biggest night in bakery industry, acknowledging the skills, creativity and business acumen of the thriving UK baking sector. The winners will be announced on 21 October at a gala event.
