Hat trick for Mash Direct at Irish FreeFrom Food Awards

Mash Direct in Northern Ireland, a leader in vegetable sides and plant based convenience foods, has won three major awards at the Irish FreeFrom Food Awards.

In the highly competitive Ready to Cook category, Mash Direct was successful with its Carrot, Parsnip & Turnip product being awarded Silver and Green Cabbage receiving the Gold Award.

The judges were particularly impressed with the company’s Green Cabbage, commenting: “Mash Direct has a super free from range for coeliacs or anyone with a gluten intolerance. Their products taste homemade and are convenient and quick to cook.”

For the first year, Mash Direct also received a special award with its range being awarded Range of the Year.

Lance Hamilton, Mash Direct’s chief commercial officer, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive the Range of the Year Award at the Irish FreeFrom Awards this year. This is a very special award for us. In 2010, we decided to change our range and ensure all our products are 100 percent gluten free, and it is amazing to gain recognition and receive this accolade for our achievements. We were also delighted to pick up a Gold Award for our Green Cabbage and Silver for the Carrot, Parsnip and Turnip. This is a true testament for our hard work across the company, in helping to provide more options for coeliacs and gluten intolerant consumers."

Mash Direct is a family business based near Comber in county Down. Located on a family farm, the company grows much of the ingredients for its products and also sources from other local farms.
