Burren Balsamics secure retail listing in Mexico

Co Armagh-based Burren Balsamics, which is owned by former chef Susie Hamilton Stubber, who works alongside development chef Bob McDonald on new product development, has secured its first retail listing in Mexico.

The multi-award winning range of handcrafted balsamic vinegars, jams, sauces and relishes is now available in luxury department store El Palacio De Hierro.

The news was announced as part of ‘UK Happening’ a yearlong programme of activities intended to celebrate 200 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and Mexico. The Department of Business and Trade (DBT) Food and Drink team are leading the UK Happening events in collaboration with the Palacio de Hierro store. Palacio de Hierro has stores in Mexico City and a large footprint across Mexico’s largest provincial cities and is very well established in its luxury food and gourmet products.

Burren Balsamics is one of eleven completely new brands being launched into the Mexican market as part of the ‘UK Happening’ programme of events.

Burren Balsamics has won a series of UK Great Taste Awards and Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards for its extensive range of vinegars which include fruit-infused products for both retail and hospitality.

The Northern Ireland family business recently received a series of gold stars for its products in the 2023 Great Taste Awards including its Armagh Bramley Apple Infused Balsamic Vinegar, Black Garlic Infused Balsamic Vinegar and Tarragon Infused White Condinment.

Amongst its high-profile customers is the iconic Harrod’s store in London’s Knightsbridge. The vinegars use only natural whole fruits for flavour and are available in distinctive 250ml bottles. The products are also available in special gift packs.

The small company was established by Susie in 2014 and has since gone on to develop extensive business in the UK and Ireland and an impressive portfolio of innovative products.
