The Boatyard Distillery founded by Joe McGirr, an experienced spirit distiller, in 2015, is the first in Fermanagh for 130 years, and overlooks picturesque Lough Erne in Northern Ireland's Lakelands.

McGirr has held management posts within the distilling industry for over 15 years with Glenmorangie, Moet Hennessy and London Distillery Company before setting up The Boatyard.

The distillery's first product, Boatyard Double Gin (ABV 46% and available in distinctive 70cl bottles) is made with spirit from organically grown wheat. The botanicals include juniper, coriander, lemon, angelica, orris, liquorice, grains of paradise and a special botanical taken from the Fermanagh based family farm known as Sweet Gale.

In September 2017, the company launched a limited edition Old Tom Gin (46%ABV) aged in first-fill bourbon barrels from Kentucky and available in distinctive 70cl bottles.

In August 2018, the distillery launched the first 'seed to sip' wheat vodka in Ireland, made using organic Irish wheat from co. Kildare. The vodka has already won a gold award at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition 2018 within the first week of launch.
