Donegal Rapeseed Oil, established in July 2009, is a small locally owned company which specializes in the manufacture of rapeseed oil.

Austin Duignan, Managing Director, hatched a plan to grow culinary varieties of rapeseed oil commercially as a result of soil tests he had been undertaking. Austin read an article in the Irish Farmers Journal, by Matt Dempsey, about the need for a good press and quality rapeseed in the domestic market. He researched the market and discovered that virtually all the cooking oil used in Ireland was actually imported.

Local farmers started growing oil seed rape which resulted in a superior quality oil with no additives or preservatives, gluten free, high in Vitamin E, Omega 3 and mono-unsaturated fat with half the saturated fat of typical olive oils.

There are now 20 people employed in the processing and marketing of a full range of oils in a plant that is operating to the highest standard of BRC Grade AA.
