Innovations from CocoMojo in Northern Ireland
CocoMojo, the Northern Irish producer of coconut juices, water and oils, has launched two new products as well as additional flavours to existing lines.
The new products from the company, based in Lisburn, County Antrim, are an Organic Coconut Sugar and an Organic Coconut Flour. They follow the recent launch of its own coconut oil.
The additional flavours to its successful juices and water are:
Ruby - Pure young green coconut water with natural raspberry juice
Peary - Pure young green coconut water with natural pear juice
Bean - Pure young green coconut water blended with coconut milk and coffee
Improvements have also been made in shelf through the introduction of aluminium cans (24 months) and PP bottles (18 months).
Both new products have been certified by the Organic Food Federation. The organic flour is described by the company as "perfect for gluten free baking, for thickening sauces and soups. It is high in fibre and low in carbs.
Organic Coconut Sugar is said to have a much lower GI rating than cane sugar and can be used in hot drinks, baked goods or "anything else where sugar is used".
CocoMojo sources its CocoOil from Sri Lanka and is cold pressed for high antioxidant, 50 per cent lauric acid content and made from the finest mature coconuts.
Coco Mojo was established in 2014 by local businesswoman Patricia McNeilly and has won a string awards for its healthy drinks, which are processed in Vietnam. The Northern Ireland operation carries out research and development work, sales and marketing and packaging design.
Mrs McNeilly, commenting on the new coconut sugar and coconut flour, says: 'The new products are a response to market demand for an alternative to conventional flour and sugar. We believe the new products offer healthier options for those seeking an alternative to refined flour and sugar."
Mrs McNeilly, has had a lifelong interest and experience in food and nutrition. She became fascinated about the wonderful health-giving properties of the coconut, so set about developing a different style of coconut drink, blending coconut water, coconut milk, tropical fruits, botanical herbs and aromatic spices.
