Hot sauce from Passion Preserved is savoury treat
Passion Preserved, the Northern Irish producer of award winning savoury jams, relishes and chutney has launched a new Raspberry and Lemon Chilli Sauce.
The company, based at Lisburn in county Antrim, is run by Claire Kelly and has a string of UK Great Taste Awards for its jams and relishes, most of the ingredients are home-grown.
Mrs Kelly describes the new sauce as being "sweet and hot, a deliciously different taste for enhancing meals". The raspberries are grown in my own garden and the Peruvian chillis in my huge polytunnel. It reflects my interest in international flavours. I really enjoy blending international flavours with local ingredients.
"The amarillo in particular is the most frequently used chilli in Peru and probably the most important ingredient in Peruvian cooking. The amarillo has a fruity distinguished taste and a medium to hot heat," she adds.
Other successful products such as Indian Inspired Tomatoes, Kasundi Hot Indian Relish and Sunshine Relish - Sweet American Pickle - reflect this interest.
Passion Preserved has a developing business outside Northern Ireland and currently supplies its products to retailers such as Fortnum and Mason in London as well as delis in Britain and the Republic of Ireland. It has also won business in Kuwait from a leading retailer.
In addition to Great Taste Awards, Passion Preserved has been listed for the Delicious magazine's awards.
The small company was established by Mrs Kelly in 2013 by Mrs Kelly, who sold a successful accountancy to pursue a passion for artisan food production especially jams and relishes.
