Kettyle in Northern Ireland wins with unique hop-fed beef

Kettyle Irish Foods in Northern Ireland has pioneered unique beef ageing and feeding techniques that are proving increasingly successful in Britain with taste conscious customers.

Part of the Linden Food Group, Kettyle, which is based at Lisnsakea in county Fermanagh, is a major supplier of premium meat to high-end retailers and top restaurants in Britain, other parts of Europe and the Middle East.

The company has pioneered steak from hop-fed cattle and aged in a malt keg. The new products build on Kettyle's work with Guinness on the development of a premium Guinness burger, launched last year. The company was also the first to introduce meat aged in a salt moss chamber.

Maurice Kettyle, managing director of Kettyle Irish Foods, adds: "Our Malt Keg Beef ribs and Hop-fed King Arthur Rib of Beef have truly set a new level for us.

"Our successful products this year have been the result of continuous development and innovation with a desire to produce exciting mouth-watering food."

The premium quality and rich flavours of the unique products were endorsed recently in the prestigious UK Great Taste Awards organised by the influential Guild of Fine Food.

Kettyle was awarded five 1-star Great Taste awards for its Salt Moss Aged Dirty Steak, Super Aged Yearling Tomahawk Steak, Salt Aged Ribeye Steak and a Dingin Boozy Brat Sausage.

The company received three 2-star Great Taste awards for its Malt Keg Beef Ribs, Hop-Fed Bishop's Cape Steak and the Hop-Fed King Arthur Rib of Beef, with some of the judges accolades calling them 'outstanding'.

Kettyle is not a stranger to Great Taste success and is now one of the leading artisan food companies in Northern Ireland. The company has set the standard for gourmet hand-butchered salt aged meat for over a decade.

The maturation, craft and knowledge of yesteryear's butcher cuts leads to a much more exciting catalogue of butchery that will lead Kettyle into the next decade.

Mr Kettyle continues: "We are delighted with the outstanding Great Taste results. The recognition from the distinguished panel of judges are a testament and a reflection of the passion and dedication to our craft. Great Taste is widely respected and acknowledged as one of the highest accolades for artisan foods"
