    Dr David Dobbin, chief executive of Dale Farm, Northern Ireland’s largest dairy company, gained a special recognition for his role in the local business community at the recent Belfast Telegraph Awards, the region’s biggest awards event.

    The award to Dr Dobbin was announced at a gala event in Belfast and was the highlight of the awards, sponsored by British Airways and organised by the Belfast Telegraph newspaper, which saw food-based companies come out top in many of the categories.

    Jawbox, the recently launched Northern Irish premium gin, has won business in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland and will be on sale shortly in Spain, Italy, France and Germany as a result of a series of distribution deals.

    The product, a classic Belfast gin, which features botanicals, especially mountain heather from hills surrounding the city, is expected to go on sale in the US within the next three months.

    Award winning Kennedy Bacon, the Northern Irish farm specialising in artisan bacon and ham, has launched its own Traditional Irish Pork Sausages.

    Based on a family farm near Omagh in county Tyrone, Kennedy Bacon has developed sausages using 80 per cent Irish pork from its own pigs.
